How tuition works

  • What sets tuition is the program you choose: a weekly band rehearsal, a lesson on your instrument, or a summer week. Lesson length, thirty or forty-five minutes, and whether a lesson is private or shared count too. The figures are on our enrollment page, and we go over them with you at a class to try.

    • Band rehearsal: weekly, ninety minutes

    • Lessons: thirty or forty-five minutes, private or shared

    • Summer weeks: by the week

  • Registration

A yearly registration covers your student file, your first listen with a coach and setting up your weekly times. It is due when you sign up, and the amount is on our enrollment page.

  • Holding a place

A weekly rehearsal spot is held once your first month is billed. When a band is full we keep a waitlist by level and send an offer by email as a spot opens.

  • Billing

Band rehearsals and lessons are billed monthly, and summer weeks by the week. Autopay is set up when you enroll. A monthly plan covers the whole term, so it is not pay-as-you-go.

  • Siblings

If more than one student in a family enrolls, ask us. Brothers and sisters are handled differently from a single student, and we explain how at sign-up.

  • Withdrawing

We ask for a month's written notice before you leave. A term in progress is billed through the notice month.

  • Missed classes and make-ups

A lesson you miss with notice is moved to another time in the month. A band rehearsal isn't made up, because a band needs all its players in the room; if your coach cancels one, it is moved.

  • Uniforms, costumes and other costs

Other costs are renting a guitar or bass for a term, strings, cables and cords, and earplugs if you want your own. Each is listed on our enrollment page, and your teacher can tell you what to buy and what to borrow first.
