What we teach

Lessons on every instrument in a band

A lesson is thirty or forty-five minutes, private or shared with a bandmate, on its own or beside a band.

  • Guitar

Electric and acoustic. Chords and riffs first, then rhythm and lead parts, with songs you know.

  • Bass

Locking in with the drummer, finding the root and keeping the groove steady.

  • Drums

A groove first, then fills. Lessons start on a practice pad and move to the kit.

  • Keys

Chords, bass lines and sounds for a band, on a keyboard or a piano.

  • Voice

Singing into a microphone, counting in and resting your voice between songs.

  • Songwriting

Bringing a riff or a line to a lesson and turning it into a song with a teacher.

At home

What to have at home

A guitar or bass that stays in tune, a practice pad and sticks, or a keyboard is enough to begin. Ask your teacher before you buy or rent; the rehearsal rooms have amps and a drum kit.

A lesson

What happens in a lesson

  1. 01

    Step 1: A warm-up

A few minutes on what you already know, so your hands and ears are ready.

  2. 02

    Step 2: New material

Something new, shown slowly and then at speed, with your own songs mixed in.

  3. 03

Step 3: A plan for the week

Your teacher writes down what to practice, and you leave knowing what comes next.

Come in

Take a lesson, or play in a band

Try a class and a teacher will hear you play. Lessons and bands can go together.
